Just this evening I discovered a wonderful resource, a booklet by Jim Ellif called The Eaglet.

The Eaglet presents the good news about Christ in a colorful story that engages both children and adults. Parents, grandparents, pastors, Bible study leaders and loving Christians everywhere will find it an important resource for explaining what it means to believe in Christ.

We have worked extremely hard both in art/design and content to present Christ as clearly as possible in this booklet. I think you will appreciate the beauty and message in your copy of the newly-designed Eaglet, but I especially want you to distribute it broadly. We’re hoping it will be an unusually effective tool for your churches and communities, and that many will come to Christ through it.”—Jim Elliff, author.

An older version of this booklet is available as a PDF here.

We all have sinful children that fight at times, and we are all sinners who often act from exasperation and impatience. But there is great encouragement in the gospel that Jesus gives us the power and wisdom to grow in grace. ( HT: BBC )

Can our children really learn and apply the truth of Philippians 2:3-4? For that matter, can we?

“Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

Or how about 2 Timothy 2:24-25? Can we and our children actually become less quarrelsome? Can we truly grow to the point where we are correcting our children gently more often than correcting them in frustration?

“And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.”

I take great comfort in these two things:

The Bible would not command us to do something that is impossible.

What the Bible commands, the gospel gives us the power to become.

By Mary & Gary Parker / Master Books

Get the absolute most out of your zoo adventure-before, during and even after your trip ends! Explore God’s amazing creation with this colorful and photograph-filled evolution-free, pro-Creationist guide to zoo creatures. Seven devotionals and “Looking Ahead” exercises are designed to be completed in the week before your trip (and even include a supply list and planning calendar!) While you’re there, 25 common zoo animals are arranged by tell-tale identifiers, broken down into 7 classifications for easy on-site locating! Learn how Polar Bears have built-in sunglasses, why flamingos are pink, as well as the class, order, family, genus and species of each featured animal. Your trip doesn’t end when you leave though; campfire discussion questions, and 35 reproducible activity sheets for all age ranges will extend learning far beyond the zoo walls. Hidden spiral-binding, 9″ x 9″. 150 pages. Ages 12 & up.

The Complete Zoo Adventure is a book co-written by former evolutionist Dr. Gary Parker and his wife Mary. Dr. Parker has lectured widely for both the Institute for Creation Research and Answers in Genesis.

The material is geared primarily toward the 8 to 13 year old reader. The book itself has a wire-wound binding for easy page turning. In the back is a tool kit with 27 field-fact cards, 3 field journals, 12 name badges, and more. It’s literally a journey in a book.

The book is set up in three sections: Before, during, and after a trip to the zoo. The “before” portion tries to set the stage to give students a proper worldview perspective. For example, this section looks at why the animals are behind bars. This is important because as Dr. Parker points out, although Charles Darwin correctly observed the war of nature, he was wrong in regard to what it meant.

Devotions are also included because Dr. Parker believes they set the stage for looking at God’s world through His eyes. There are seven introductory devotions of two pages each, a Bible page, as well as a science application page that prepares readers for their page-turning trip to the zoo.

Be prepared to learn about the incredible peacock, the hovering hummingbird, the fruit bat, wolves, and polar bears; all on this edition of Crosstalk that celebrates many fascinating aspects of God’s wonderful animal kingdom.
