Randy Chandler prophesied that Huckabee would be the next President

Date March 4, 2008

On Sept 17, 2007 Randy Chandler, self proclaimed prophet, issued a ‘Prophetic Insight article’ titled The Next U.S. President

I poured the oil over his [Huckabee] head, placed my hand on his head and began to speak over him. “You will shepherd this nation. Hear the voice of God, that you are his choice. You will be the next president of the United States of America and the favor on you will move out of the way those who are not favored.” — Randy Chandler

We are asking people to contact Randy Chandler and ask for an explanation as to why his prophecy was not fulfilled. Huckabee has now dropped out of the race and will not be the next President unless something very unusual happens. We will be contacting Randy to understand more about how he can claim to be a prophet of God and yet be inaccurate in his prophecies.

The following is the full text of the ‘Prophetic Insight article’

The Next U.S. President

The camera man said, “When you poured oil over his head, it was a holy moment. I put my camera down and got on my knees.”

In September of 2007, I received a personal invitation to attend the Value Voters Debate to be held in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The debate consisted of the Republican candidates running for the office of president of the United States. My part was to see if God would reveal a David among the Republican candidates, and if so, to pour oil on his head like Samuel did David for him to become the next king of Israel. If God did speak about one of the seven candidates, he would be pulled aside and it was requested that I pour oil on his head and declare the word of the Lord over him.

On September 17th, I found myself sitting in a beautiful auditorium in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida watching all the activities of the debate. TV cameras were rolling, reporters and security people were everywhere and the atmosphere was filled with a sense of destiny. I was sitting next to a friend from Texas who had been chosen to vote in this debate along with 340 other leaders around the country. Each candidate was to answer a series of questions posed to them by a panel which was made up of seven well-known Christian leaders. The questions penetrated and revealed the hearts of each Republican candidate and we all learned much about each one of them. My friend from Texas sitting next to me was one of the few who knew why I had been invited to the debate. Before the final votes were in, he asked me the big question, “Has God shown you anyone yet?” I said, “Yes- Governor Mike Huckabee, he’s the one I want to lay hands on.”

After the candidates left the stage I began to look for the friend who invited me to the debate. This person was the one who was setting up the private prayer meeting with the candidate God would choose. The auditorium was busy with all the excitement of the TV interviews and photographers taking pictures of those who participated in the debate. The final votes came in indicating that Mike Huckabee had won the debate by a landslide.

Before we knew it, the security was kindly escorting us out the front door as it was getting late and I was becoming a little distraught over the unyielding circumstances that were robbing us of doing God’s will to anoint Huckabee. However, I was excited that God had spoken clearly who His choice for president was. God’s choice among the Republican brothers was the “shepherd boy” from Hope, Arkansas. To me, some of the other candidates looked very capable of doing the job, but not according to the purpose God has for the next president of the United States.

Leaving the debate a bit disappointed that things didn’t go as planned, I caught a taxi and went to a restaurant to meet some friends from Texas. When I spoke to them about how we weren’t able to do the private anointing of the Governor, everyone remained in good spirits and felt like it was a successful debate in that there was a clear winner. We sat around the table and shared our insights to the debate, when suddenly one of the guys said, “Look there’s Huckabee right over there!” We waved hello to him and he responded by coming over to our table to greet us. My friend asked him if he heard the news that he had won the debate by a landslide. He said, “Yes, I heard.” In my eyes this looked like the perfect opportunity, so I stood up and said, “I would like to pray for you” and the Governor said “Yes, be praying for me” as he walked away.

A holy boldness came on me and I said, “I mean right now.” He turned around very kindly and came to our table to receive the prayer. Before I knew it, I had placed my hand on his head and began to speak over him, “You are going to shepherd this nation and you will hear the voice of God saying you are God’s choice.” I continued to pray for him and he was very kind and respectful. I started to reach for the butter on the table to anoint him but it did not seem appropriate for the moment. I could hardly believe that this was just a coincidence and knew it was a “God appointment.” The Governor and his staff left the restaurant and we all rejoiced over what God did that night.

After finishing our meal we all got up and went next door to our hotel. And as we were walking through the hotel lobby sharing stories, one of the guys said, “Look Randy there’s Governor Huckabee!” There stood the Governor and my friend from the debate with a photographer taking pictures in the lobby of the hotel. We greeted and my friend said, “I have told the Governor about you and I have the oil. Let’s find a private place to anoint him.”

In the courtyard of the hotel, we found some lawn furniture where the Governor joined us. We sat down to share for a moment before praying. As the Governor and I were being introduced, the Governor looked a little puzzled. I personally can’t read minds but Mr. Huckabee seemed to be thinking, “Just a few moments ago this man, a total stranger, prayed for me at the restaurant with his hand on my head and told me that I was God’s choice for president of the United States.” My friend who was introducing us had no knowledge that this had happened just moments before.

After officially being introduced, the Governor realized I was the person he had been told about that was going to anoint and pray for him. I stood up with the bottle of oil in my hand and thoughts filled my head to pour the oil over his head like Samuel the prophet did when he anointed young David to be king. I poured the oil over his head, placed my hand on his head and began to speak over him. “You will shepherd this nation. Hear the voice of God, that you are his choice. You will be the next president of the United States of America and the favor on you will move out of the way those who are not favored.” He appeared to be very touched. There was a photographer taking pictures whom afterwards told me, “Randy, the moment you stood to pour the oil, I had to put my camera down and get on my knees. It was a very holy moment.”

I was in awe now because everything had been accomplished on this mission. God had revealed the “David” to me and I had anointed and spoken the word of the Lord over him. It was timed and planned by God himself in spite of the earlier sequence of events. God did it exactly the way He wanted to.

The next morning as I had time to reflect on the evening before, I realized there had been a type of “double blessing“ on the evening. Mike Huckabee was chosen twice that night–once by God speaking to me prophetically before the voting took place and again by the delegates at the debate. Twice chosen– once by God in a prophetic word and once again chosen by the voting of God’s leaders. I had encountered him twice, prayed for him twice, prophesied and publicly declared over him twice. This had happened with two (twice) different groups of people–one group in the restaurant and later another group in the courtyard of the hotel.

To top it off, the next morning we went deep-sea fishing and there was a beautiful “full double rainbow” that looked like an archway over Ft. Lauderdale. It was the first I had ever seen during my lifetime and the first for the captain and his son, who are out to sea most every day. I feel doubly blessed to have been a part of this destiny-filled event. I believe the future of this country is full of hope with a man from Hope. We all need to take a personal interest, pray and elect Godly leaders.

It will be very interesting to see how Randy Chandler explains this one!

I have been extremely disappointed about this entire thing, as I believed Mike Huckabee was God’s choice for president. Now this has all left me very disillusioned and disappointed because I was 100% behind Mike Huckabee because this nation absolutely needs a man of God in this office.

I, too, want an explanation for Randy Chandler’s “prophecy”.

When David became king over Israel he had to wait for King Saul to die. I don’t think this race is over.

as we all know, God is full of surprises and this race isn’t over, as well as the next race…we all prophesy in part as human vessels and i don’t for a second believe this was a false prophesy. The timing may be later than we all hoped for but it will be exactly what we need, when we need it!

    Renee,

As we see things, God is full of surprises as you say. However, from God’s perspective, since He is sovereign, he is not surprised by Himself and His plans have already been made and they will come to pass.

You are correct in saying that the race is not over. By all accounts, it is unlikely, although still possible, that Huckabee will be the next president. That is what the prophecy claims, that Huckabee will be the next president.

So, even if someone other than Huckabee serves as the next president for even a day, the prophecy will be false and thus, Chandler a false prophet.

Now it is my guess that Randy Chandler, if wrong, may admit he is wrong but explain it away some how and spin it.

There is no spin here my friends. One false prophecy and you are a false prophet. Mr. Chandler is likely to suggest that a prophet in todays Church can be wrong at times.

Here is a very helpful article on this subject.

New Testament prophets are to be held to the same standard as Old Testament prophets

Shane, might I ask what your spiritual gifting is? Have you ever made a mistake in your calling? Is there not grace enough to cover your mistakes? The fact is, we live in flesh bodies, surrounded by a world of flesh…don’t you think it possible that flesh and this world can get in the way of the voice of God? We all have to grow in our giftings, and learn to hear His voice for ourselves…our Father always allows us room to make mistakes, and His grace covers them all! The gifts and callings of God are without repentance(that’s in the Bible, BTW)! So if a prophet misses it once or twice, is he not still a prophet? Your judgment of Mr. Chandler is based on the LAW, and we as Christians are no longer under the LAW, but under GRACE. So lets give him the grace that our Father would give him! Besides, the race isn’t over ’til November!

P.S. ~ You may want to be careful on how you pass judgment…”you will be judged by the same measure with which you judge!” That’s some food for thought!

Well of course this would cause an issue…but God said “my ways are higher than your ways”. If we believe that simple fact, then we have to allow God to be sovereign. Randy is just a man and I believe he would testifiy to that. We all miss the mark. If we were perfect, grace would then be useless. Shane your response to Jim that “this is about Randy Chandler” is true from your blog but in the Big picture it’s about the body of Christ and unity. We should look at David “man after God’s own heart” = murderous ,adulterous, anointed king of Israel. God has a strange sense of humor. Moses leading 3,000,000+ free from Egypt= murderous, disobedient, can’t go into promise land leader. There are others Elijah, Jonah, Peter, Judas, Thomas….men of God …some hand picked by Jesus….mmmm. Yes these men and others are held to a higher standard…God’s standard. Romans say we have all fallen short. The Word also states that we are all the same in His sight…. there are NO favorites…..God is the Judge. These days we are in are hard. We as christians must find ways to bind together not divide. Division is Satan’s oldest tool to destroy us…it caused Adam and Eve some issues. Be blessed in all you do and may it be done as unto Him…. remember we serve an 11th hour God.

    Shane,

It seems to me that this blog IS about YOU, and YOUR opinion of Randy Chandler. If I’m wrong, please forgive me. The whole point of my comment was to point out the fact that we, as new covenant believers, are under God’s grace, and not the law. And that you, as host of this blog, are judging Randy by the law. That’s all I was trying to point out. Maybe instead of bashing Randy because he may have missed it…that has yet to be seen…you should be lifting him, and Huckabee up in prayer!

    Jim,
I’m a little surprised by your comments. I, too, agree that we should always lift one another up in prayer, and we should do the same for Chandler and Huckabee… But, what is wrong with holding someone accountable? Randy Chandler is claiming to be a prophet for the Lord Most High…the King of Kings, and he has attributed words to our Lord that were most likely false. If someone was attributing false statements to you, or one of your family members, then you would probably want to do something about it. Moreover, you would be justified in doing so.

Randy Chandler and Shane Trammel are two people that I know personally, and I know them well. In fact, I’ve worked with both of them on numerous projects and have had not only a personal relationship with them, but also a business relationship with them. Have you met either of these men, and spent enough time with them to adequately judge their character and motives? You have criticized Shane for passing a judgment, and you have just done the same.

I know Shane enough to know that this blog is certainly not about him. You spoke about ‘law’ and ‘grace’, and I certainly don’t think Shane is focusing on the law. In the old testament, were not false prophets put to death? Shane is not calling for that! He is merely calling him to some accountability. This type of accountability is something that is completely lacking in most of the ‘charismatic’ circles where these types of ministers are embraced. Most of these type of ministers can say and do what they want, and there is no recourse because the church members have been taught to ‘touch not God’s anointed” (which is a misinterpretation of that verse.)

Just think about what kind of a mess we would be in if there was no accountability for people who claim to speak for God. There would be mass confusion and chaos, and nobody would be able to say anything about it. There would most likely be thousands of different ‘messages’ from God, and they undoubtedly all contradict each other. Would you not have the desire to stand up for God, and for truth, and see to it that His name not be dishonored by people attaching it to false prophecies? Would your love for our Lord compel you to do what Shane has done? I would hope that it would.

I agree with Shane, and believe that Randy should offer a public statement about his mistake, if (and when) someone else is elected in November. There is nothing wrong with holding people accountable. In fact, if Randy would offer such a statement, he would show people that he is most concerned with God being honored, and it would bring a measure of credibility to his ministry. The question is will he do it? I hope, for the sake of his ministry, that he will.

  13. Sam said:

    Michael,
I guess one of the big things is the timing of it all…..November is a long ways off. I say let God be God….for His timing is perfect. It seems this blog has got into theology and differences. It’s not over!….and God is full of surprises…the surprise is on us not God…the Bible is clear that where He sends His word, it will accomplish that which it was sent to do? Just because some struggle with different teachings and interpretation are we still not of one body? Baptist, Methodist, Chrismatic, Pentecostal, etc.= eye, hand, foot, ear, etc. can one say that they have no need of the other. Men and women of God fail and will fail,…i.e., me, you, my wife and others, but the heart is the issue. The Father looks on the inside….do you not think that God is not big enough to handle this….

*as quoted by Shane earlier to Renee, “However, from God’s perspective, since He is sovereign, he is not surprised by Himself and His plans have already been made and they will come to pass.”

This is true but when were you and I given the right or the calling to judge something that has yet be decided….God’s not afraid of the US political process. If Mr. Huckabee is not president this time then maybe it was missed, but I’ve been around long enough to know that God doesn’t work off what I think about it and Randy Chandler is still a man of God. Just as you will be, if it comes true. But the story is not over…… Blessing to you guys!

i do believe that we are to “test all things and hold fast to what is true”. implying that we are to “throw out what is not good”. i don’t, however, believe that we are instructed to judge a believer. we can test fruit, but not judge men. if the word proves out to be false, then the word will be thrown out as a false word, but i don’t believe that makes randy chandler a false prophet. what of the other hundreds and hundreds of words that have proven true, given by this prophet? both before and since the word about mike huckabee. if God can still trust Randy with His word, i can, too. i am sure he will be humble enough to look for the error in the word given if it does not come to pass. my guess is that there was some slack in the interpretation as it was being spoken, but that God’s main intention was to declare that His choice was Mike Huckabee. Sadly, we don’t always always give room for His choice, and we often suffer for it.

I have known Randy Chandler for many, many years, and have seen up close and personal the “fruits” of his ministry. He prophesied years ago that a large earthquake would rock Lubbock, Texas on July 7, 1990. He was very specific about the date, the main area of damage, and that God had specified the number 7 loud and clear. It didn’t happen, obviously. Approximately 2 years later (but not on a date involving a 7), a tiny earthquake registered in Lubbock (most people didn’t even feel it) and he used that as justification that he had “heard from God.” Huh? He eventually left Lubbock and went to the Dallas area to get away from the humiliation. If you are part of his “following,” just know that he has had many such little flocks over the years, all of which have eventually disintegrated once people got to know him better. He ruined his home and family life, leaving 3 kids who want absolutely nothing to do with him now, trying to be a “big man of God.” His wife and kids were always way down on his list of priorities, practically at the bottom. He jumped from church to church, never willing to submit to any pastoral authority, always saying that the leaders of every congregation were “threatened” by him. His (first) wife carried the load of raising the kids, making most of the living, and trying for twenty years to support him emotionally and spiritually, while he treated her like dirt. Do I believe he’s a prophet? Nope.

I should correct one thing I said previously: It was his second wife that stuck by him for twenty years until it became intolerable. He’s now on his 3rd wife.
