Special Prayer Request For My Father — Terminal Cancer
August 14, 2007
To all my readers,
I am asking all of you who believe in the power of prayer to lift up my father (Gale) when you can. Dad has brain cancer (Glioblastoma Multiforme)
Update on my Dad’s Cancer — Nov 7, 2007
Dad went back to the doctors to have and MRI and then review it. Well, we did not get the kind of report we were hoping for. As it turns out, in the last three months since his surgery, the tumor has grown back and is bigger than even the original growth. The doctor says in his estimation the tumor is growing aggressively. Based on this report, the doctor is only giving my dad three to six months to live.
We are thankful for your continued prayers.
Update on my Dad’s Cancer — Sept 19, 2007
Dad has now completed 17 Radiation and Chemo treatments and doing well physically. He has at least 10 more treatments to go and will have an MRI next week. We are praying for a good report from the MRI. Dad has been released to resume normal activity like driving, etc. and we are thankful for that.
We want to thank you for your continued prayers. May God richly bless you.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (King James Version)
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Update on My Father’s Prognosis — Aug 9, 2007
Dad had his first visit with the Radiation Oncologist and the Dr. confirmed what we had come to understand through some research on the internet. There has been very little advance in the treatment of Glioblastoma Multiforme in the last 30 years. Dad was told those with his condition can expect to live anywhere from 6 - 18 months. As you can imagine, this is not what we wanted to hear, but it is in line with the statistical mortality rate associated with Glioblastoma Multiforme.
So that is what the Doctors say but we will trust in the report of the Lord. We will continue to walk in faith, trusting in the Lord for Dads healing.
Please join us as we continue to pray for Dad. You may also want to pray for these needs as well.
*** Update on My Father’s Prognosis — Aug 6, 2007 ***
Dad was released from the hospital today and the final word in the natural realm is that Dad has level 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme. He will be meeting with a radiation oncologist this Thursday. Please continue to pray that God will touch Dad and make him whole again. We are praying for doctors who have a true concern for the well-being of there patients.
Psalm 121
1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
*** Update on My Father’s Prognosis — Aug 3, 2007 ***
Preliminary reports suggest that my father has Glioblastoma Multiforme. This is the most critical or advanced form of brain cancer. Obviously this is not the report we where hoping for but we continue to put our trust in the King of kings and the Lord or lords.
We continue to ask that you agree with us in prayer that God will completely heal my father. We understand God’s ways are not always our ways and his purposes are not always our purposes. Yet we continue to ask God to touch Dad.

Dear Brother,
I’ve heard about your prayer request. It always takes me sometime to know what ask God for in Prayer. I have seen many many miracles as a result of Prayer. I will be on my knees in behalf of your Dad. Stay encouraged.

Shane-
I will be praying for your father and you. My mother, who will be 76 this fall, was diagnosed with the exact same tumor after suffering from a grand mal seizure on Thanksgiving Day 2006. She had the tumor removed on Jan 3, 2007. She had 33 days of Radiation, 33 Days of oral Chemo- Temodar, and an additional 4 rounds of Temodar. She is fine right now- MRI, and CAT scans are clear. Please do not lose hope- God is full of mercy, blessings and the power to heal. My mom continously prayed for his will to be done and that if she had to go through this to save just one person it would be worth it. God has so blessed us during this trial-strengthened our faith, our family and our love for Christ. Do not lose hope, and do not surf the web and get scared with what you see- I will pray for you- In Christ

Shane,
I am so sorry for the news of your father. What a shock that is to find your parent has such a serious illness. My mother was also diagnosed with this same tumor almost 12 years ago. Unfortunately, it was inoperable by that time and she didn’t live long after that.
I will surely pray for you, your father, and your whole family that you will see a wonderful outcome.
May God’s name be glorified!

Shane,
I want you to know that my wife and I will continue to pray for your father and all of your family. I want to thank you for posting a prayer request for my wife Carol who you know is battling this dreaded disease.
I want to share with you from Hebrews 11:17-24. As you know this is the “heroes of Faith” chapter, but in these verses there is another group of people. They didn’t gain great victories out on the battlefield. They didn’t enter the arena of life before large audiences and perform great feats for God. These are the “others,” and they are the ones who, if you want heroes, are really God’s heroes.
Notice the contrast here. Back in verses 33 and 34 it speaks of victories which were “won”, it spoke of how they “subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword.” How do we explain this? One group by faith escaped the edge of the sword, and another group by faith were slain with the sword.
My friend’s, if you can walk up and give your testimony and tell how God has healed you-and I will join you in that-or if you can get up and say how successful you have been……I want to remind you that there are multitudes of God’s saints today who are suffering. They are paying a tremendous price. Do you know how they are doing it? They are doing it “by faith.” They have lots more faith than I have, and I think they are choicer saints than I am!
In Christian love,
Ike and Carol
