John Granger and His Harry Potter Blasphemy Bringing Harry Potter to Church

Date July 27, 2007

From Slice of Laodicea we read this post on the blasphemy of Harry Potter.

**Update: Christianity Today has been shilling for Harry Potter since 2000. Their blog features this post with a Christian author enthralled by the latest Harry Potter book. It should not surprise me that these evangelicals are now openly praising books about the occult. It still does. I encourage you to leave a comment on the site.**

Yes, the occult is very attractive to the sinner, however, I think we need to look at the entertainment we view in general. We spend billions to go to movies and to rent them. Sadly the American Christian is just as guilty as the world in desiring these forms of media, television, computers, ipods, etc, etc. Hey, you talk about entertainment, one of our local pastors just put a pool in his back yard. I live in an area where you may posibly get four months of summer weather and the pastor just put a pool in his yard? When will we wake up? When will we believe! Those South Koreans that are being martyred for their faith aren’t thinking about Harry Potter, and the chloring balance of their pool. They are in prayer. They have their eyes focused on eternity and His glory! They are hoping WE are praying for THEM!

Why is it that Pastors think they need the media to make their point while preaching? Why is it that pastors have the bright lights, the cushy chairs, the three point sermons… WHY! I believe it is because they themselves are spending so many hours being entertained themselves. Friends turn off your TV’s. Turn them off. Get them out of the home. Can the ipod. Hey, stop listening to music while driving your car. Spend time with your savior Jesus Christ in an intimate conversation with Him. Read the word of God and obey it, Now that will be filling! A real all you can eat buffet, and He gets the Glory!!!

Pastors, if your standards of pursuing holiness are no difernt than the unsaved, then of course your sheep will not strive for anything higher than what you have been pursuing. Our standards should be the standards of our savior. He would not be wathcing Harry Potter.

Brothers in Christ. Did we just cry at the alter or did we die at the alter? Surrender! Surrender. let us live today as though it were our last. Let us fight the good fight. Let us hold each other accountable. Let us encourage eachouther. Please, let us look drastically different than the wolrd around us. Please, go serve your King!
