IDENTIFYING THE AUTHENTIC EARLY CHURCH

Date June 27, 2007

A must read for all interested in factual Church History is the following article from Apprising Ministries. Pastor Ken Silva (Apprising Ministries), with permission from Richard Bennett (Berean Beacon), has reprinted this wonderful piece for our review.

As you read this piece, consider this quote from Thomas Bokenkotter, in his book

A Concise History of the Catholic Church.

From page 1, paragraph 1 of the introduction:

The Catholic Church is the oldest institution in the Western world. It can trace its history back almost two thousand years. It began in Jerusalem as a small nucleus of disciples who shared faith in the resurrection of Jesus, their crucified leader, and it spread quickly to countless cities of the Roman Empire. Its inflexible opposition to Roman culture, morals, and religion aroused the savage fury of the state, and many Church’s members perished when they refused to conform. But its spiritual power was only magnified by persecution, and its progress remained constant. Finally it won a decisive victory over the old paganism when it drew to its side the Emperor Constantine himself, who in 312 attached its emblem–monogram of Christ–to the banners of his troops and granted it complete religious liberty.

How dare the Roman Catholic Church suggest it was established in the first century. Those first century Christians lost their lives proclaiming the true Christ who saves by faith in Him alone, through His grace alone and they where not Roman Catholics. These first century Christians would be appalled at the very sugestion that they had believed and taught anything close to what the Catholic Church teaches.

This so called history’ from Thomas Bokenkotter’s book only serves as continued proof of the lies the Roman Catholic Church presents to the world. The very core or foundation of the Catholic Church is steep with lies, deception, and doctrines of demons.

Call it Catholic bigotry if you must. Just consider these words from Jesus.

31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” — John 8:31-32

Thanks Shane. Richard’s a dear friend and was a Roman Catholic priest for 22 years. I know he’ll be thrilled you picked this up.

Also my friend Jim Lupacchino told me you talked with him and said the conversation was great.

Oops, did I say “the conversation”? ;-)
