Chuck Colson and the modern Ecumenical Movement — Don’t Buy It !!

In past posts I have discussed Chuck Colson’s involvement in the ecumenical movement. I would like to take time in this post to discuss some specific details related to Chuck Colson’s ecumenism.

One man Mr. Colson seems to really promote is Peter Kreeft. Kreeft is labeled as a Christian philosopher, author, speaker, and professor of Philosophy at Boston College. With no help from Colson and other “evangelical” leaders and publishers, one finds out that Kreeft is also a very devout Roman Catholic.

Colson had this to say about Peter Kreeft’s book, “Ecumenical Jihad” (a critical review of this book)

“Peter Kreeft is one of the premier apologists in America today, witty, incisive and powerful. On the front lines in today’s culture war, Kreeft is one of our most valiant intellectual warriors.”

Never mind the fact that Peter Kreeft is also the author of “Catholic Christianity” where he presents as biblical the following heresies:

• Justification by faith and works
• The literal presence of Jesus body and blood in the Eucharist
• Affirmation of Purgatory
• Sacraments as a means of grace
• Doctrines of Mary (Immaculate Conception, her Assumption in heaven, her role as “Advocate”, Mediatrix of All Graces, and her role as Co-redemptrix.
• Apostolic succession
• Power of the Church to transmit Christ’s forgiveness (sacrament of forgiveness or absolution)
• Prayer for the dead

Must I go on? Kreeft expounds many more heresies but we will leave it for another time.

I will leave you with this. We must be in prayer that God will open the eyes of the Church. We know that we are in the last days, so be watchful and in prayer that you are not deceived. Be on your guard and support ministries that have integrity and stand for biblical truth. Much of what you see in the popular Christian media (Print, TV, Movie, Music, and Internet) has only an element of truth in it. When you peal back the layers, you see the deception, the lies, the half-truths, the doctrines of demons. Popular is the key element here. There are many ministries that are faithful to biblical truth. The fact remains these ministries are not popular and obscure to many. My prayer is that you would search out ministries that will remain faithful in the face of opposition and support them with your prayers and financial support.
